Since living in the St. Louis area and hosting many visitors, we have had the opportunity to visit the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial Arch many times over the years.  The Gateway Arch soars above the banks of the Mississippi River in St. Louis, Missouri and stands today as the nation's tallest arch and national monument   One suggestion we always make to our guests is to view the documentary shown about the building of the Arch.

The "Monument to the Dream" is a documentary written, directed and produced by Charles Guggenheim and Shelby Storch.   The documentary traces the adventures of the Arch's evolution, from the early concepts on the drawing board to the fabrication of its stainless steel sections, and the triumphant placement, in a race against the sun, of its final section in the fall of 1965.  The film reveals the innovative structural techniques and the brilliant design of this amazing monument, presenting one of this century's greatest civil engineering achievements as a metaphor for the struggle to win the West. This film went on to be nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Documentary Short in 1967. "It is one of the most beautiful films of its kind I have ever seen." ---J. Carter Brown, The National Gallery of Art

One particular portion of the documentary talks about how engineers were required to take survey readings at night so the readings would be more precise and not be skewed by the heat of the sun on the steel of the arch legs.  It was stated that the readings must be perfect because even the smallest deviation at the bottom of the build...one/64th of an inch...could cause the arch legs to be off at the top and cause catastrophic failure to the entire build.

The notion that even the smallest error or smallest deviation can make all the difference has become the focus of our communication. We recognize that these small variants can lead to either positive or negative outcomes.  If the path you, your organization or your family seems to be off track, our message can help you make that small change which can change everything.  Even the smallest adjustments to the way a life is lived or an organization is managed can make all the difference.
